Phantom Encounters overnight Ghost Hunting Events and Paranormal Investigative Experiences allow you to step into the world of the ghost hunter for an evening, braving the unknown and tapping into your darkest fears. While we would love to call our overnight ghost hunts ‘Paranormal Investigations’, they’re really more like a taster session of what being on a paranormal investigation is like, so we prefer to use the term ‘Paranormal Investigative Experience’. Real investigations into the paranormal can take years and sadly, we rarely have our locations for longer than an evening...however, if you’re interested in just how intensive a real paranormal investigation can be, just ask our Managing Director Jason for some information on his experiences; he has been actively researching a single modern haunting in North Lincolnshire for over 18 years now.
So what happens on a Paranormal Investigative Experience? A Phantom Encounters ‘Paranormal Investigative Experience’ is a taster session of what it would be like to be a paranormal investigator; roaming the halls of an historic location in the dead of night, listening for the slightest sound and attempting to capture proof of life after death. When you arrive for your Phantom Encounters event, you will be greeted by our friendly staff members, your event tickets will be checked and you will be given a name tag and access to nerve calming cup of tea or coffee. Before every Phantom Encounters event, the staff will advise the guests of the health a safety requirements for the location, provide information on any ‘forbidden’ areas of the venue and run through the equipment on offer for you to use during the event. There may also be a safety briefing from the venue owners at this time. The Phantom Encounters staff will them break the main group up into teams for the evening; your Phantom Encounters staffer will then take you on a ‘lit’ walk around of the venue, allowing you time to orientate yourself fully and get a feel for the location. We then return to the main area for a cup of coffee before the event continues.
LIGHTS OUT! After we regroup in the main ‘crew room’ the venue will be plunged into darkness and your night as a ghost hunter really begins… Armed with torches, cameras and your heightened sense, each group of guests and their team leader will be assigned a particular area of the location in which to conduct vigils and experiments for a set period of time. Once the allotted time for these vigils is completed, you will return to the crew room to debrief, grab some tea and coffee and some snacks and shortly thereafter proceed on to the next vigil area with your Phantom Encounters staffer to see what lurks in the inky blackness of our locations. On the odd occasion we may be allowed some ‘free time’ in the location, where guests can return to the area they felt was the most active, in the company of a team leader, and conduct further experiments. As your evening of ghost hunting with Phantom Encounters draws to a close, you will return to the crew room for a final debriefing, an evidence review and a final cup of coffee before venturing into the early morning with memories of a fantastic evening, some new ghost hunting friends and some new experiences to tell your friends at home about.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE NIGHT If you’ve never been on a public ghost hunting event before, preparing for it can seem a little daunting, so we’ve covered off some of the most frequently asked questions below. However, before we start, let’s clear up a few things: · Do you have actors, or sound effects to scare me on this event? We do not and will not ‘create’ scares on our events, if you experience any unexplained phenomena during an event with us, it is not of our creation. Our staff do not participate in the experiments on the night, this is to ensure your experience is as interference free as possible. · What should I bring with me on an event? We recommend that you bring a torch, digital camera, extra batteries, warm clothing (some of our locations are exposed to the elements) and a can of energy drink, as by 1am, you’ll probably be needing it. We will supply drinks and snacks throughout the night to keep the tummy rumbles at bay. · What happens if I become frightened during the event? Our staff are trained to deal with people in highly stressful environments, if at any time you feel uneasy or unsure just let one of our team leaders know (it’s ok to whisper) and we’ll make sure that you are accompanied throughout the event, or if you would prefer to sit out of some activities, a team member will make themselves available to keep you company. · I noticed that the events include experiments with equipment, but I really don’t like Ouija Boards, do I have to use one on your event? No! This night is all about you...so if you don’t want to participate in certain things, you don’t have to. Just let a staff member know that you don’t want to participate in that experiment and they’ll take care of everything. · Why don’t your staff participate in the experiments? Easy answer: So we can’t be accused of manufacturing paranormal phenomena! A lot of experiments undertaken during these events are subject to human intervention, both conscious and subconscious; to ensure you get the ‘purest’ experience possible our staff will not participate in the experiments. · I’m a sceptic, will I be bored on your events? Hardly! Our team possesses an equal ratio of believers and sceptics, so we try to cater for all beliefs/disbeliefs. We encourage our guests to question their experiences, to apply logic and critical thinking and to reach for a rational explanation before jumping to the ‘paranormal’ conclusion. If you’re a sceptic, then you’ll likely find your services in demand on our events. · Do you use mediums & psychics on your events? Yes we do use mediums occasionally! On the whole we prefer to allow our guests to enjoy the location free of any outside influences. That being said, we also employ historians, UFO experts, authors, cryptozoologists, radio hosts and others who can bring a different angle of perception to a location or topic. Our job, as we see it, is to ensure that you, as our guest, are given as many options as possible to view the paranormal world; it’s up to you to choose who and what you believe. · I’ve heard paranormal equipment doesn’t work to detect ghosts, is that true? It could very well be...as yet, there is little evidence to suggest that the equipment currently utilised by ghost hunters actually detects ghosts. All of the equipment currently being used was designed for other purposes, so it is not created to detect paranormal activity. That being said, using theories from the scientific community, best guess and your own instincts, we would love to hear how you get on using the equipment we have available for you to use at our events—who knows, you may be the very person who proves that they DO detect ghosts? |
